Hohe Tauern National Park
At 1856 km2, the Hohe Tauern National Park is the largest national park in the Alps with a unique and pristine Alpine natural and cultural landscape. The Sulzbachtäler wilderness area was added to the list of “World-class nature reserves” in 2019.
On guided tours, the National Park rangers will tell you more about the natural resources in the Hohe Tauern National Park, the unique flora and fauna and how these treasures can be preserved for future generations.
In the summer months, you have the opportunity to meet and accompany the rangers in the National Park valleys. The Junior Rangers in the information huts will tell you where you can meet the National Park Rangers.
A special highlight is the National Park Worlds in Mittersill, which brings the unique alpine adventure world around Austria's highest peak (Grossglockner, 3,798 m) and a further 266 three-thousand-metre peaks, over 342 glaciers and one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world under one roof. In ten adventure stations (including 360° cinema and eagle flight panorama), which lead from one natural area to the next as if on a hike through the national park, you get to know and understand the extraordinary diversity.
Address: 5730 Mittersill, Gerlosstraße 18
